We have only a narrow window to confront the twin crises of climate collapse and ecosystem breakdown. At 400Forests, we’re turning urgency into action—connecting people, forests, and climate finance to drive real change where it matters most.

Together, WE Can Forge Solutions

See What We Do: Explore our latest insights and on-the-ground innovations tackling some of the most urgent challenges facing forests, communities, and the climate today. From carbon finance to ecosystem restoration, discover how we’re driving bold, scalable solutions for a thriving planet

The Chance for Real Impact Is Now!

Our planet stands at a crossroads, facing two deeply connected emergencies: climate disruption and vanishing biodiversity. The next few years—not decades—will decide the trajectory of life on Earth.

Scientists agree that keeping global warming below 1.5°C is essential to avoid irreversible harm. At the same time, we must preserve enough forests, wetlands, and oceans to slow mass extinction and protect vulnerable communities.

The stakes are immense. Since 1950, humanity has released nearly 75% of all historical CO₂ emissions. In just the past 50 years, we’ve lost almost 70% of wildlife populations across the globe.

The evidence is clear—and the window is closing. This is the decisive decade. Delay is no longer an option

400Forests' 2040 Goals

Rooted in deep listening, co-creation, and science, our approach reflects years of learning and refining. At 400Forests, we walk side-by-side with local communities, Indigenous leaders, policymakers, and global partners to design bold, inclusive solutions that restore ecosystems and livelihoods—together

10
Million

10 Million Hectares of Forests Protected and Regenerated

We target to protect and regenerate 10 million hectares of vital forest ecosystems across the globe. These landscapes are essential for biodiversity, water regulation, and Indigenous livelihoods.

5 Million Hectares of Forests Planted (Rewilding and Restoration)

We are committed to replanting and rewilding 5 million hectares of degraded forest land with diverse, climate-resilient native species. This initiative will restore lost habitats, rebuild soil health, and reconnect wildlife corridors.

What We Do >>

500
Million

500 Million Tons of CO₂e Eliminated or Avoided

Our programs will collectively eliminate or avoid 500 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 2040. This includes forest protection, biochar, clean energy transitions, and blue carbon solutions.

What We Do >>

20
Million

20 Million Climate-Vulnerable Lives Safeguarded

We will improve climate security for 20 million people in frontline communities facing rising risks. From flood protection and drought resilience to clean energy and forest income, our projects address both environmental and social vulnerabilities.

What We Do >>

5
Million

5 Million Hectares of Lakes, Wetlands & Biodiversity Corridors Conserved

We will conserve 5 million hectares of inland water bodies, wetlands, and biodiversity corridors critical to ecological balance. These habitats support migratory birds, fisheries, freshwater systems, and climate regulation.

What We Do >>

10
Million

10 Million Hectares of Ocean and Coastal Systems Restored or Conserved

By 2040, we will restore or conserve 10 million hectares of marine and coastal ecosystems, including mangroves, seagrass meadows, and coral reefs. These blue carbon systems are vital for carbon storage, food security, and coastal protection

Our Global Challenges
Explained

Worsening Climate Change Impacts

Climate change is the planet’s greatest systemic threat. It disrupts weather patterns, melts glaciers, intensifies droughts, and endangers ecosystems that billions depend on. Driven by greenhouse gas emissions, it threatens food, water, health, and global stability. This demands bold, collective action from every sector and society on Earth.

Our Disappearing Global Forest Cover

Global forest cover is disappearing at an alarming rate—over 10 million hectares are lost every year, largely due to agricultural expansion, illegal logging, and infrastructure development. This deforestation accelerates climate change, destroys biodiversity, and undermines the livelihoods of millions who depend on forests. Reversing forest loss is essential to stabilizing the climate, safeguarding species, and securing water, food, and economic resilience for future generations

Our Focus Points Around
the World

400Forests works with frontline communities across Africa, Asia, and Latin America to restore forests, protect biodiversity, and build climate resilience. From coastal villages and Indigenous territories to drylands and tropical rainforests, we partner with local stewards to drive nature-based solutions rooted in equity and impact.

ACT TODAY!

The environment we have is not just the space we live in, it is the intricate system of air, water, soil, climate, plants, and animals that makes life possible. Healthy ecosystems regulate the planet’s temperature, purify water, store carbon, pollinate crops, and protect us from natural disasters. But this balance is rapidly being disrupted.  Add your Voice! ACT NOW!
