Our Vision
We envision a world where forests are valued as vital foundations of climate stability, resilient economies and thriving communities. We envision forest ecosystems restored, protected, and governed in ways that uphold climate justice, biodiversity, and inclusive development.

Partnership for impact
A key element of our partnership with forest communities and parties is to mobilize access to high impact collaboration agreements. This includes access to tools and strategies for climate finance through carbon markets and investments that empower frontline communities. We also beleive that strengthening governance by supporting equitable, science-informed forest policies and land rights is a vital component to sustainable forest systems.

Building Capacity in Innovation
We work towards advancing innovation in forest monitoring, restoration, and climate-smart land management. We work towards building capacity to scale high-integrity, forest-based climate and development outcomes.

Why Our Work Matters
Forests are climate regulators, biodiversity reservoirs, and life-support systems for 1.6 billion people. Yet deforestation drives nearly 10% of global emissions and threatens water, food, and human security. Our work confronts this challenge by protecting carbon stocks, restoring degraded landscapes, and championing justice-driven climate action to deliver results where they are most urgently needed. We seek to:

Protect:
We safeguard primary forests through legal reform, land rights, and integration into national climate targets.

Restore:
We lead large-scale restoration using native species and community models, linked to carbon finance.

Transform:
We influence markets and policies, and empower local actors to lead regenerative change.
Forests are Earth's original infrastructure — silent giants that regulate our climate, purify our air, and sustain life.
They absorb billions of tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, stabilize rainfall, anchor biodiversity, and provide food, water, and livelihoods for over 1.6 billion people.

Forestation Policy and
Governance: Seeking Progress
We recognize that many policies still enable deforestation through weak enforcement, perverse subsidies, or land tenure insecurity. 400Forests collaborates with governments to reform forest governance by embedding zero-deforestation targets, enhancing Indigenous land rights, and aligning policies with carbon market frameworks and biodiversity goals. We support legislation that values forest services, incentivizes sustainable use, and integrates forest-based climate solutions into national development plans and NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions).
Core Project Areas

ACT TODAY!
The environment we have is not just the space we live in, it is the intricate system of air, water, soil, climate, plants, and animals that makes life possible. Healthy ecosystems regulate the planet’s temperature, purify water, store carbon, pollinate crops, and protect us from natural disasters. But this balance is rapidly being disrupted. Add your Voice!
