Regenerative Ocean Farming

The Regenerative Ocean Farming Cooperatives (ROFC) program is a globally scalable platform that positions small-scale aquaculture as a keystone solution for coastal climate resilience, marine biodiversity regeneration, and inclusive blue economies. Grounded in regenerative ocean practices, the program unlocks environmental value while driving livelihoods through cooperative governance.

Program Objectives

  • Restore degraded coastal ecosystems through regenerative aquaculture and habitat-positive farming techniques.

  • Empower artisanal fishers and coastal communities via cooperative enterprise models that center equity, ownership, and governance.

  • Accelerate blue carbon finance innovation through verifiable, nature-based carbon credit generation tied to seaweed and bivalve biomass.

  • Establish regional centers of excellence in ocean farming that fuse traditional knowledge with advanced marine agronomy and tech.

  • Demonstrate scalable models for blue economy transition within national climate and biodiversity strategies.

Program Methodology

The Regenerative Ocean Farming program applies an integrated, community-centered approach that combines ecosystem restoration, climate-smart aquaculture, and blue carbon innovation. It supports the recovery of coastal biodiversity through multi-species, low-impact ocean farming that improves water quality and sequesters carbon. At its core, the program empowers coastal communities by building inclusive marine enterprises with equitable governance and shared revenue models. Real-time ecological monitoring and third-party verification ensure transparency, while alignment with blue finance mechanisms unlocks sustainable investment in ocean resilience

Ecological Restoration through Regenerative Farming

This pillar focuses on ecosystem healing through multi-species, low-impact aquaculture practices designed to restore marine habitats, improve water quality, and reintroduce native species. These regenerative methods reduce environmental stress, enhance biodiversity, and ensure the resilience of aquatic ecosystems, making them a cornerstone of sustainable blue economy strategies

Cooperative Enterprise Development

We support the formation and strengthening of community-owned ocean farms by providing capacity-building for cooperative governance, equitable revenue-sharing, licensing navigation, and market access, including export facilitation. These community enterprises are structured to ensure long-term ownership, sustainable income, and inclusive participation, especially among women and youth in coastal regions

Blue Carbon Innovation

Using real-time ecological monitoring tools, we track carbon sequestration, biodiversity gains, and nutrient capture within marine and coastal farming systems. These outcomes are verified by third-party standards, enabling the generation of high-integrity blue carbon credits and positioning local communities to benefit from emerging carbon finance markets tied to ocean-based climate solutions.

Policy Integration & Financial Scaling

This approach aligns regenerative ocean projects with national climate adaptation plans (NAPs), global biodiversity frameworks (GBF), and emerging blue finance vehicles like blue bonds and blended climate-finance facilities. The objective is to ensure legal recognition, policy support, and financial scalability of blue carbon initiatives while securing lasting ecological and community returns

Global Impact and Targets
(2040)

By 2040, the Regenerative Ocean Farming program aims to establish 12 coastal farms across six distinct marine ecoregions, contributing to the restoration of over 1,000 hectares of vital ocean habitats including reefs, seabeds, mangroves, and seagrass beds. The initiative targets the verification of more than 210,000 tonnes of blue carbon credits (tCO₂e) while directly improving livelihoods for over 15,000 households. A core focus on gender equity will see the formalization of at least 50 women-led cooperatives, embedding inclusive, community-based ocean stewardship into global climate and development strategies.

ACT TODAY!

The environment we have is not just the space we live in, it is the intricate system of air, water, soil, climate, plants, and animals that makes life possible. Healthy ecosystems regulate the planet’s temperature, purify water, store carbon, pollinate crops, and protect us from natural disasters. But this balance is rapidly being disrupted.  Add your Voice! ACT NOW!
