Why the Fight Against
Climate Change Matters

Tackling climate change is about more than cutting emissions—it’s about protecting life. It secures food, water, and jobs, reduces poverty, protects biodiversity, and prevents mass displacement. The Paris Agreement gave us a roadmap; the time for implementation is now.

The Climate Future
We Envision

A world where net-zero is the norm, every community is resilient, and economic development supports both people and the planet. At 400Forests, we believe this future is possible and we’re building it now.

Co-designing Climate Solutions with Local Partners

We believe the most durable climate solutions emerge from the people who are closest to the problem. Our programs are co-developed with frontline communities, Indigenous groups, women-led cooperatives, and youth innovators to ensure that every project reflects lived realities, local knowledge, and cultural integrity. This participatory approach not only improves outcomes, it builds community ownership, safeguards equity, and strengthens governance for long-term resilience.

Promoting Clean, Affordable Energy for All

Access to clean energy is both a human right and a climate imperative. We work with municipalities, rural communities, and national regulators to expand solar, wind, and hybrid microgrid systems through community financing, women-focused clean cookstove initiatives, and off-grid energy access. Our energy projects directly support SDG 7 and align with the IEA’s roadmap calling for 90% of new energy investments to be renewable by 2030.

Reducing Deforestation and Scaling Forest Protection

Forests remain our greatest natural carbon sinks, yet 10 million hectares are lost annually. Our forest strategy combines community-led stewardship, REDD+ alignment, carbon market integration, and advanced MRV systems to ensure verifiable protection. We invest in landscape-level planning, agroforestry, and sustainable land-use transitions to build climate, biodiversity, and livelihood resilience across vulnerable regions.

Advancing Climate-Smart Agriculture, Water Systems, and Urban Resilience

We integrate nature-based solutions with regenerative agriculture, sustainable water infrastructure, and urban adaptation strategies. Our solutions are designed to strengthen food security, reduce emissions, and build adaptive capacity particularly in drought-prone and flood-exposed geographies. Our urban programs work with city leaders to green infrastructure, reduce heat-island effects, and protect vulnerable populations.

Influencing Policy and Finance Systems to Align with a Net-Zero
Future

Systemic change requires shifting policy and capital flows toward long-term climate ambition. We collaborate with governments, MDBs, and impact investors to develop enabling policies, unlock blended finance, and scale carbon finance frameworks that empower local markets. Our policy work supports NDC implementation, climate budgeting, and nature-positive regulation, ensuring that every dollar spent moves us closer to a just and sustainable net-zero transition.

What We All Need to Do to
Fight Climate Change

The fight against climate change is no longer the responsibility of future generations—it is the urgent call of our time. Scientists warn that we must cut global greenhouse gas emissions by nearly half by 2030 to stay within the 1.5°C threshold outlined in the Paris Agreement. This means rapidly transforming how we produce energy, grow food, build cities, and govern natural resources. Governments must enact ambitious, enforceable policies that accelerate decarbonization while protecting vulnerable populations. The private sector must shift capital toward sustainability, innovation, and circular economies. And development institutions must prioritize climate justice at the heart of economic recovery and infrastructure planning.

At the same time, communities around the world must be empowered as co-leaders in this transformation. Climate solutions must be locally rooted, gender-inclusive, and grounded in

traditional knowledge systems. Smallholder farmers, Indigenous peoples, urban poor, and youth activists are already building regenerative economies, conserving forests, and innovating water-smart agriculture. We must listen, invest, and co-create with them. Collective resilience requires a commitment to equity—not only in outcomes, but also in who gets a seat at the table and who shapes the future.

As individuals, we all have a role to play—whether by voting for climate-forward leaders, reducing consumption, supporting community-based initiatives, or investing in green livelihoods. Philanthropy, innovation, and solidarity can reshape markets and uplift those most affected by climate breakdown. Together, through shared leadership and global-local collaboration, we can not only avert the worst of the climate crisis but also build a more just, biodiverse, and resilient world for generations to come.

To limit global warming to 1.5°C, we must both cut emissions and remove carbon fast. Forests offer the most scalable, cost-effective, and nature-aligned solution available.

ACT TODAY!

The environment we have is not just the space we live in, it is the intricate system of air, water, soil, climate, plants, and animals that makes life possible. Healthy ecosystems regulate the planet’s temperature, purify water, store carbon, pollinate crops, and protect us from natural disasters. But this balance is rapidly being disrupted.  Add your Voice! ACT NOW!
