Accessing Carbon Markets

We work with communities to increase access to forest-based Carbon Markets.  Forest-based carbon markets are systems that allow individuals, communities companies, or governments to buy and sell carbon credits generated from projects that conserve, restore, or sustainably manage forests.

For communities where we work, these markets provide a way to finance forest protection and climate mitigation by monetizing the carbon dioxide that forests absorb and store. Revenue generated from these markets also provide a key pathway to economic opportunity that is key in improving livelihoods and alleviating poverty in needy forest-based areas.

Local Connection,
Global Impact

At 400Forests, we work hand-in-hand with local and Indigenous communities to unlock the value of forest-based carbon markets. By supporting community-led reforestation, forest conservation, and sustainable land management, we help generate high-integrity carbon credits that are verified and sold on international markets. We provide technical assistance in carbon accounting, support legal and land tenure frameworks, and ensure communities understand and control the value of their carbon assets.

Revenue from credit sales flows back to the communities—funding livelihoods, ecosystem stewardship, and regenerative economic models. In doing so, we transform forest conservation into a viable, community-owned climate solution that connects local action to global carbon finance

Markets for Partnerships

At 400Forests, we work hand-in-hand with local and Indigenous communities to unlock the value of forest-based carbon markets. We seek markets in traditional markets within established frameworks to get opportunities for communities with whom we work

REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation)

REDD+, a UN-backed framework, allows us to partner with projects in developing countries that involve the conservation of forests, enhancement of carbon stocks, and promotion of sustainable forest management.

Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) Projects

Through ARR markets, we partner with forestry projects that plant trees in degraded or deforested areas to generate carbon credits as trees grow and sequester carbon.

Agroforestry Carbon Projects

Agroforestry markets allow us to work with communities integrating trees into agricultural systems to sequester carbon while enhancing soil health, crop yields, and biodiversity.

Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ Programs

For large-scale, government-led REDD+ programs that operate at the provincial or national level or projects with opportunities for community or project-level nesting, Jurisdictional and Nested REDD+ remains our best action strategy.

Mangrove Blue Carbon Projects

Mangroves store 3–5x more carbon per hectare than tropical rainforests. Protecting and restoring them generates high-value blue carbon credits.

Using AI-Driven Forestry Tools to Improve Performance

We leverage AI and remote sensing technologies to monitor forest health, detect deforestation, and quantify carbon sequestration in real-time. This data-driven approach enhances the accuracy of carbon credit calculations, ensuring transparency and trust in carbon markets.

At 400Forests, our AI-powered delivery strategy merges cutting-edge technology with grassroots action to scale forest impact globally. We harness machine learning and remote sensing—combining satellite imagery with drone-based data—to monitor forest health, track restoration, and detect changes with precision and speed.

This data-driven insight is grounded in deep community engagement, where we co-create sustainable forest management practices that reflect local knowledge, needs, and ownership. Every intervention is aligned with rigorous international carbon market standards, ensuring the carbon captured can be verified, monetized, and reinvested locally. Together, these elements form a powerful, AI-enabled, community-led platform for forest regeneration at scale

ACT TODAY!

The environment we have is not just the space we live in, it is the intricate system of air, water, soil, climate, plants, and animals that makes life possible. Healthy ecosystems regulate the planet’s temperature, purify water, store carbon, pollinate crops, and protect us from natural disasters. But this balance is rapidly being disrupted.  Add your Voice! ACT NOW!
